Default Hendrix pupdate!

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted and I thought I would share an
update on Hendrix (and Roxy) now that I have a real newsreader again (on
my first Mac!). Hendrix will be ONE YEAR OLD on May 11. I can hardly
believe it!

In a nutshell, he is the dog I always wanted. In fact, he is very much
like my dearly departed Ziggy, who coincidentally shared the same
birthday. Ziggy would have been 10 this year, and I never stopped
missing him. Hendrix has healed my heart from that loss.

Hendrix was on his way to being a very well trained dog last time I
posted, but then I took ill for many months and his formal training has
since been put on hold. Amazingly, he is still a Very Good Boy and
super eager to please. He has the basics down pat, and that's good
enough for me. He is very reliable off leash and great with new people,
places and other dogs. He adores the cats, too. He is also very, very
sweet and would crawl inside you for a head scratch. We had issues with
the Termite component of his pedigree, but that was really a supervision
problem. BG Thankfully my fine wood furniture came out of him as
easily as it went in, and he no longer gnaws on the occasional tables.
He does like to prune the trees, though! This year's veggie garden has
a 4 foot fence so I can have some corn and sweet potatoes, too.

Hendrix and Roxy are the best of friends and I just can't imagine things
being any better. I still pinch myself, feeling as if I won the dog
lottery with this boy. Roxy still tries to boss him around but he finds
all that very funny. Since he is quite a bit bigger than her, he keeps
on doing whatever he wants that Roxy thinks he shouldn't. They play
near-constantly, and we've not had any guarding or other issues with
Roxy in more months than I can remember. (We did work hard on that.)

So life is good here on the dog front! I will try to get some photos of
my handsome boy for you soon. You won't believe him now! He's
chocolate all over, but also has flecks of gold fur mixed all over, too.
His fur is short, but longer than a Lab coat, with some feathering on
his back end and tail, and he is oh so soft! He's got the classic
Golden temperament, and will fetch until your arm falls off. He can
also catch tennis balls FAST one after the other. He will even stay
sitting to catch them if I tell him to do so. Once in a while he
forgets to drop the ball already in his mouth and it's hilarious. That
is secretly my goal whenever I get the bucket of balls out to play. He
still LOVES to swim and is very happy now that I can take him to the
woods again. He also likes to catch the frisbee now. He's just
perfect, and in great health, too.

I hope this message finds you and yours all healthy and happy!
