I thought this was interesting on the metabolism of sled dogs running
the Iditarod.

I thought I'd copied the url right, but clicking on the above doesn't
take you to the article I liked so much. If you're interested, try
googling on "Researchers seek demystify metabolic magic," then follow
the first hit. It's about the way sled dogs in long distance races burn
calories nonstop without fatigue.

Julia, the URL took me to the right place. Thanks for posting it!

I used to consider the Iditarod clear abuse, nothing more, but I've
tried to keep an open mind. Maybe there are breeds that truly enjoy
pulling heavy loads in bitter cold! I'm slowly beginning to think it
might not be quite as horrible as I once believed. After all, how could
a musher not love these dogs; but if so, why abuse them? It hasn't been
logical to me.

This article gives the sort of information I've needed, for my
understanding.

Thanks again.
Michael
