Default Tabasco sause, pepper spray or hot pepper flakes for Coprophagia?

Hello, my puggle mix is 1.5 years old and has a problem i was hoping
he would grow out of. He consumes his own droppings every chance he
gets. We've tried food additives and different punishments, but I am
now going to try putting something horrible tasting/smelling ont the
droppings to really make them painful.
I'm thinking along the lines of tabasco sause, pepper spray or hot
pepper flakes like they have in shakers at italian restaurants. has
anyone tried something along these lines? Thanks.

Why not just clean the crap up when he's done. That's the easiest solution.

My dogs generally like foods laced with hot chile; the hot pepper
technique wouldn't work for them.

In our case, if our dogs want to lick hoomin plates, hot sauces
come with the territory. And Oppie, like most labs, will eat
just about anything that some species, somewhere, considers
"food" (although after asparagus got horked up whole, he doesn't
get that option again).
