My little red bi girl is a hussy. And she wants Friday, SEVEN
times her age!

Maybe went into heat a week ago and she's now at the point where
Friday is interested. The poor little girl - Friday was finally
paying attention to her and they actually played. Yesterday,
something must have clicked in Friday: Maybe play bows, like
usual, and Friday thinks sex. MEN!

And this afternoon, Maybe started presenting herself. Hussy.

Rocky doesn't care.

Thank God I'll probably only have to deal with this once more
before I have her spayed and OFAed at two.

I am so dreading Marcie's turn. Should be around Christmas. Oh joy!

Shameful little girl you have there. Redheads have a reputation yanno.

It'll be Christmas morning, right when you and 20 friends are
sitting down for brunch. Maybe's happened at an agility
trial.

I don't bother with diapers or pads. Generally she's pretty
easy to clean up after (I have very little carpeting), but
when someone comes to the door, she gets excited and sprays
like a skunk.

I know. TMI.

I weighed and measured the little vixen yesterday. At near 14
months, she's still under 18.5 inches and weighs 31.0 pounds.
Her litter brother is in the 40 pound range and over 21
inches.

Just curious - if you don't plan to breed her, why do you plan to
wait until she is 2 to have her spayed?

While I don't know about bitches, I planned on waiting to neuter Kiba until
he was at least two, hopefully three, as well. From the reading I had done,
and discussing it with my vet, I wanted Kiba to have completed his growth
and finished puberty. Some research has shown that a dog that has it's sex
organs removed early can continue to grow and become thin-boned, tall, and
weedy. An animal that is allowed to progress in it's sexual maturity before
spay/neutering is heavier boned and therefore more sturdy, with better coat.
Cavaliers (Kiba's breed) don't have their full growth until around three, so
waiting seemed to make sense to me. Unfortunately, his umbilical hernia
blew up early and rather than subject him to two general anaesthetics we
decided to neuter while he was having the hernia repair done. I must admit
though, it did curb the humping and marking attempts. Teenage boys are kind
of disgusting, no matter the species.

Actually, no. It's the kind of information I need to know. I have not
lived with an intact bitch before and having a better idea of the less
publicized aspects is actually helpful.

I'm wondering how common that is. I've lived with a few
intact bitches and never seen it. Fortunately!

Yabbut...

I'm guessing Matt's observations are very different (from what we
experienced) because he has intact males around!
