Cute dog is dieing, needs help (near Bluff, Utah)
Yesterday we found a cute, little black dog under a bridge near Bluff,
UT. My girlfriend and I are from germany an on a journey through the states. We were on the way to the monument valley, went down a small way to the San Juan River and found there a really cute black dog. He lied there in the shadow of the bridge, near the water. We think, he will not make it much longer, his condition was not very good. We drove to Bluff to buy food for him, but we dont think, he will make it much longer than 1 week. Does someone know, how to help this dog? Are there any pet-activist in this area? Any help is geatly appreceated! Can post pictures of the dog, even a video, if someon is interested. The dog is located at this point: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=de&cl...,0.041327&z=15 |

The dog is located at this point:http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=de&cl...uff+utah&ie=UT... Dear Hemabe - I'm in Indiana, too far away to help. But I can give some suggestions - if the dog is still alive at this point. You are sweet to care about a little dog living on its own! Since it lets you approach, I would assume it is a lost pet rather than a "feral" dog (escaped so long ago it's now wild, or was born into the wild), which makes it easier for you to handle. Some places you could telephone, to ask how to find a Rescue Group: the nearest Humane Society shelter, a police or fire station, a newspaper, a television station (this might be your best bet - they would love this story and would like to be seen helping you and the dog - so ask around to find the nearest TV station and telephone them for sure), a veterinarian or vet clinic, a pet shop (sells supplies for pets, might also sell pets), a dog lover you see on the street. Some dogs are now microchipped (have a microchip inserted under their skin with their owner's information on it) and any veterinarian or animal shelter can "read" the microchip if the dog has one. .... I hope you can get in touch with a TV station - tell them you found a tame dog living on its own, in poor condition, and you've helped but more needs to be done. Ask them to contact a rescue group, and let them take your picture. They will show a short bit of this on the news and they'll be swamped with calls from people wanting to adopt the dog instantly. So even if there's not a rescue group nearby the dog will find a home anyway. ..... I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip! Surely your kindness will be returned to you.
