You may already have heard about this, but in case not - a whole list of
store brand cat and dog foods are being recalled for salmonella
contamination, which may infect humans if they don't wash hands etc, and
several varieties of Special Kitty are on it:

Anything that has salmonella in is a danger to humans if they don't wash

Well, yeah, of course!
However, not everyone would think to do a soap-and-water thorough wash
after feeding dry kibble. And this wasn't supposed to be posted to the NG -
it was supposed to be a private e-mail to a friend who feeds Special Kitty
to his barn cats, and isn't in the habit of washing up after handling the
kibble. G
