A Closer Look
First, this is why it's a good idea to go over your dog with a fine-
toothed comb. Or take a close-up photo of her butt. Whichever works for you. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cat-sidh/2880537490/ And this is little miss "Please Don't Make Me Get Off The Bed," before going *back* to the vet. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cat-sidh/2880537428/ -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

With Harriet, the raised leg is a cue that she thinks she's going to be told to do something she does not want to do (passive-aggressive- submissive). Don't get me wrong, she loves belly rubs, but she solicits those by flopping upside down on your lap. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

If I ask again, it waves around. It can be the very devil to get him to actually roll over and get UP. But he does it eventually, with exaggeratedly dramatic yawns and stretches. That sounds familiar! Harriet does the exact same thing, and for the same reason. Little stinkers! -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

A "hey lady, look, I'm cute, I'm submitting, but at the same time I ain't buying your cuppa joe." His dam does it too, even more exaggeratedly. When I take care of the kennel she will NOT come out of her crate (which is on the second level up so I don't allow her to jump down) without the whole foot-waving scene, except in her case I have to just reach in and scoop her out, with the wavy-leg-protest in full steam. |

We say Bell will spread her kegs if anybody even looks in her direction and it is never in the context you and Robin cite. All of out dogs have used the fore-paws for either batting or keeping us at an "arm's length" for what you've described. |

Harriet will, too, but the rest of her body language screams, "I don't want to do whatever it is I know you're about to tell me to do." All of out dogs have used the fore-paws for either batting or keeping us at an "arm's length" for what you've described. That's a pet peeve of mine. Boxers being what they are, Harriet wants to use her feet to boss everyone around. I've had to be really strict about her not putting them on people. Or the cat. Or other dogs, for that matter. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

He horks that leg up so fast and high sometimes he bangs himself in the head. Oh my! I'd have a hard time not busting out laughing.
