Sweet though odd moment
Last night I had iTunes playing random songs, and Juice Newton's _The
Sweetest Thing I've Ever Known_ came up, and I started singing along with it. Peanut was asleep in the corner, and looked up, so I turned and started singing to him directly. He gave me the beagle cocked-head look ("what are those noises he's making? maybe he's in pain?") and then very cautiously slunk across the floor over to where I was sitting, probably to make sure I was okay. I finished the song while scratching him behind the ears (and the top part of his tail wagged against the floor), gave him a biscuit, and promised not to sing in his direction again. The funniest part is the look he gave me and the cautious way he approached me...I almost had to stop singing and laugh. -- Bright eyes/burning like fire, * * * * * | Kevin Michael Vail Bright eyes/how can you close and fail?* | How can the light that shone so brightly | . . . . . . . . . . Oppie never seems perturbed by the noises we make, and he used to join in singing now and then when we'd get Gordo (of the sweet voice) going. But he STILL gets perturbed when we dance! When he was a pup he'd whine loudly and jump up and put his paws on our shoulders and lick our faces, as if to say, STOP IT! He's not otherwise much of a licker. Now it takes a little more, and sometimes he only head butts us or begs. He seems to realize that we're just playing, but he still doesn't like it much. I think he was more wondering if he should call 911. :-) Oppie never seems perturbed by the noises we make, and he used to join in singing now and then when we'd get Gordo (of the sweet voice) going. One time Michael and I were walking Peanut and ran into someone with a lovely white dog (of husky-ish shape) who started howling along with a passing ambulance...Michael started howling, too, and Peanut looked at him with this "You're embarassing me, dad" look on his face. Sweet though odd moment
I used to hold Barney as a puppy and sing to him. I still sang to him when
he got older he wouldn't sing with me too often but occasionally he would.. Lady I didn't get as a pup and the first time I sang to her she started howling at me. I guess I just don't sound as good to her as I did to Barney. Now if I do it she just gives me that look like what the hell is that noise.
