I am inclined to his point of view that dogs which achieve the some of the breed specifications can find they are significantly less healthy or comfortable on account of it. Some selective breeding creates pedigree dogs which acquire poor resistance to infection and have gastro problems to a range of foods. This is to say nothing of everyday problems in coping with certain aspects of their physical make-up. Such dogs are not bred for the benefit of the animal itself as their very viability is compromised. hb |
