Default Beagle Problem

My lovely male beagle as a problem with the 2 scent glands located on the
sides of his bottom mouth, they are small, very putrid, and offensive. It
must be irritating to the dog because he is always rubbing it on his front
paws, thus irritating it further. I assume it's infected because it's
constantly draining out infected liquid. Anyone with experience in this
area? Thanks in advance.
BTW: do female beagles also get this problem?

William

I don't know anything about "scent glands" around a dog's mouth, or if such
a thing even exists, but if your dog has a putrid infection draining on his
face, your first step should be to a vet, not to the internet.

my best advice: Take the dog to a competent vet NOW.

Take the dog to the vets. He has some sort of abcess that need cared for.
Letting these go is abuse.

What she said.

(For some reason I interpreted the original description as referring to
the anal glands, which can get putrid and offensive on *my* male beagle,
but the advice would be the same in either case: hie thee to a vet,
pronto.)

I don't think English is the writer's first language, and after a couple
of re-reads, I interpreted "bottom mouth" as refering to the anus, and
"rubbing it on his front paws" as "rubbing the rear on the ground by
scooting with the front paws".

Regardless, yes, it needs a vet if the glands are infected.

Oh, and assuming that's what the OP *was* referring to, the answer to the
question of male vs female is yes, all dogs can have anal gland issues.

Good catch. I wonder if this was done using a web-translator, but yeah, the
original poster needs to get to a vet. This is a (relatively) common
problem, but it needs to be dealt with, as I don't think its likely to
resolve on its own, and does cause distress to the animal.
