Default Muttley On Ice

I finally was able to get out and clear the ice off the car today. Muttley
had fun slip sliding around and killerating chunks of nasty ice. The black
specks you see are ashes from the woodstove used for traction on the slick
surface. I hope enough melts tomorrow that I can safely get the car down
the driveway without sliding out of control into the road.

Yeah, he's got a few extra pounds on him. I have not been able to take him
for any more than one or two very short walks a day, and since the ice
storm Tuesday we really have not been out at all.

Just lurking. Hope I'm not intruding. Loved the pictures of Muttley!
What a character! Handsome, too! He might be a bit plump, but I'm sure
once the weather improves and he can exercise more, he'll trim down
again just fine. Thank you for posting the pictures, Paul.

Your dog is beautiful. How old is he?

He was a rescue and he seemed to be about 1.5 years old in February 2006,
when I got him. I have arbitrarily set his birthday as July 15, 2004. It's
also hard to tell his breed mix, but probably some GSD and maybe Mastiff.
Could have some Rottie and Chow as well, possibly some PBT. He acts like a
protective breed, such as Anatolian, and his markings are similar.
Whatever, he's a cool dog, low maintenance, and very stable, but
hard-headed and independent, and not much for playing.

He loves marrow bones. Lately I've taught him to bring me one, or fetch it
when I throw it. I use a knife to get to the marrow that he can't reach.
He'll spend hours trying to get the stuff that's buried deep in a long
bone.
