Companion Animals - Prozac on legs?
Greetings,
cats and dogs cheer oldies up. Recommended - retirement places ought to allow pets. It's the one-way wisdom of social workers, doctors and psychologists. Reducing an animal to a thing for lifting ancient psyches. Happy granny! But animals, too, have needs. And who takes on an animal must satisfy those needs. Granny’s got to be responsible. Dog Rusty is my best buddy. Since my partner died there are just the two of us with a strong bond in between. My life would be poor without him. But for the enjoyment Rusty gives me I pay a price. Living in a high bushfire danger area, I can’t leave him at home. Where I go he comes with me. That means cinema is out, and I loved the cinema. I loved the beach - out too. I travelled a lot with stops at National Parks - out. I found an ideal kennel. The dogs are not caged. They frollick around and the place is full of happy barks. But, at 18 dollars a day that’s heavy on a tiny pension. I grab a ball, and Rusty squeals with joy and puts on his wings. He needs his exercises. He needs some entertainment too. I roll through the grass and play the dog clown. Will granny do all that? I find it irresponsible to foist animals on to people, who are not made for it. Animals are dependents with needs. They are not Prozac on legs. Klaus and Rusty http://www.oz-greetings.com.au Nature & Wilderness, Quotations & Geology |
