Doggie Wheelchairs
I have an English Bulldog, who I've adopted from a rescue group that
dicided that it wasn't in their interest to treat a torn tendon in one of its rear legs. I've been thinking about getting one of those doggie wheelchairs but I'm wondering if anyone out there has experience with the wheelchairs. Are they convenient, and worth it, or should I save the money? |

Depends on how severe, and if a doctor has deemed it reparable. Could run a couple thou. But if it meant full functionality for the dog, I'd pass on the wheelchair, I'd use a strap to help the little guy walk until I'd gotten the dosh together for the surgery. But there are very few details available on this one, and she may have a solid reason why she's not asking about that....I don't know. |

There was a PitBull named Red who was rescued from Katrina by bestfriends, and he was paralyzed from an injury so they fitted him with a dog cart and he had a new "leash" on life. He is now in the care of someone who is also disabled while recovering from an injury: http://news.bestfriends.org/index.cf...E801A09C54D32B and http://www.bestfriends.org/aboutus/m...inapitbull.cfm I found some with prices starting about $400 at http://www.dogkarts.com/, but if you look at the pictures it seems that you could easily build a cart from PVC pipe and fittings and a couple of wagon wheels for under $100. Here are some ideas: http://handipet.com/gallery2007/main.php?g2_itemId=2136 www.dogpile.com is your friend... Paul and Muttley |
