"culprit" wrote in message ... when Manu came to live with us, we put a gate across one of the hallways, so the cats could have half the house as a "safe zone" until they got used to him. today, the baby gate fell down when i was lifting something over it. Manu dashed through and started running excitedly through the forbidden area. Lola stood at the place where the gate had been, looked pitiful, and whined as though she couldn't walk across that space. even though there wasn't a gate there anymore. i guess i know who the "good dog" is. :-) Or, in our house it would be guess who the scaredy-dog is. That would be Coda. He has a healthy fear of baby-gates, when they fall down (which they've done on occasion, simply because I'm too clumsy & short-legged to hop them gracefully. And because as a puppy once his toy hit it and knocked it over on the brick & scared him) he stays well away from the downed baby-gate. Bodhi however, will gleefully run *across* it, or jump it. Which ever strikes his fancy. However, he does respect them if they are standing in place. Shelly & The Boys |
