I must have missed this original post but blaming a dog because of its
colour is like blaming someone for something because they wear a blue shirt.

No blame involved. Color can be linked to genes that we may not know it is
linked to. See the Russian Fox study, for example. Thus the question to a
person who knows the breed. I rather liked Melissa's explanation of buff being
the popular color among the for profit and backyard breeders.
