New Puppy ok to bathe?
I just got a Yorkie-Poo puppy. He is 7 weeks old. Is it ok to give him a
bath? Also, his eyes water. Is there something I should be looking for? Thanks in advance. I have been a cat person and this is my first pup. Thank heavens the cats already like him! And its only been 3 hours. Cyndie Mom to Nevada, Laredo, Juniper Breeze and now Jasper Jax. |

CONGRATULATIONS on your new pup. I am sure you are in love/heaven right now. A 7 week old pup should have a Vet check within 72 hours maximum of bringing him home. I would certainly be considering doing that ASAP. As for bathing I wouldn't at least until he has seen the vet. At that point you can ask the Vet their advice and opinion of the matter. It is always much better to be safe than sorry. JMO Gwen |

I just got a Yorkie-Poo puppy. He is 7 weeks old. Is it ok to give him a bath? Why does he need a bath? Accidents happen that might require a bath, but mostly a young pup won't. If you do need to then a lot of care must be taken that the pup does not get chilled. Do not feed the puppy until it is fully dry and warm. (This is not as big a deal for larger puppies, but for small ones chilling the stomach area can impede digestion.) Also, his eyes water. Is there something I should be looking for? This is something that should definetly be checked by a vet ASAP in a puppy that young. Diane Blackman |
