I have had a Doggie Dooley in my back yard to which I add my dogs
"droppings" daily and digester when I think of it. Probably once every
couple of weeks. Everything has gone on without problem for ten or
more years but this year for the first time opening the top disclosed
a roiling mass of insects/bugs or possibly the bacteria from the
digester feeding on the crap. "Roiling mass" is not just me being
poetic; it really looks like something out of a horror movie. I'm
worried that this might be mosquito larvae or worse.

Has anyone faced this problem and found a solution? If I cover the
water with a film of oil I'll kill the mosquito larvae but also, I
think, the bacteria. I would think that any poison would be similarly
injurious to both. What should I do?
