The book is a very interesting read, and most of the proceeds go to
the writer's dog rescue.

I bought the book for the above-mentioned reasons, but boy, I'm having
trouble getting into it. Hopefully it will pick up...

I'm about halfway thru A Dog's Purpose. It's not what I originally
expected but I'm enjoying the heck out of it! I would absolutely
recommend it.

It's got me really curious about something... Search dogs who look for
people. Obviously they can follow a scent on the ground but how far can
they follow it in the air? Can a search dog actually sit in a truck
with their nose out the window and follow the scent of a person in
another vehicle who isn't right in front of them?

Did the author research it and get it right or did he make that up?

Sorry! I found the first-hand glimpse into how dogs are treated in
Afghanistan (and in Muslim countries in general), and how soldiers
come to their rescue, to be very interesting.

No, it's not exactly a page-turner, but I enjoyed it.

And the money goes to a great cause, so....

Don't be sorry; as you say, the money goes to a great cause, so I
don't care if I never finish the book. I was probably looking for
something a bit more entertaining when I started it. I usually have
two or three books going at the same time and what I pick up on a
given day depends on what else is going on in real life...I'll go back
to this one and I'm sure I'll finish it.

Here's some videos about the dogs. Maybe they'll help get the juices
flowing.

Look over on the right side of those pages for even more videos about
the Dogs of Nowzad.

There are times when the conditions of dogs, even in this country, are
deplorable. But in Muslim countries, they're always deplorable.

Yep, that did it.

I have the utmost admiration for those men who risked their lives for
the people of Afghanistan and then devoted their time and resources to
the animals of Afghanistan.
