Ignore him, filter him, don't talk to or about him. If everyone else
followed suit, maybe he'll get sick of talking to himself and leave.

Heh. I skip wide swaths of posts, to be honest. I also have a helpful
killfile that screens out the most egregious posters--those that post too
much information or too trollish of information; but in this group that tends
to be the same person.

I have enjoyed what I could keep up with and believe there is
alot to learn in this NG .....When one of the ladies mentioned thread gone
bad I had nooooooo idea how bad IT was......

Threads here can take quick and sudden turns. Sometimes they are worth
following; other times not so much. Depends on you and your mood...

I also have a small collection of regular posters from whom I learn very
much. For these posters, my newsreader highlights their messages and I try
hard to get to them.

Chad how did I do yesterday any foot in mouth happenings?

Oh, you don't have to ask me. I'm probably not the best to comment on such
right this moment.

I
wilL not give up and will try to keep to the standard you and others have
set for this NG...

Heh. Well, the only standard I suggest is attempts to read other people's
posts with fidelity. It is a hard standard to keep, for most of us (myself
included).

I would also say J.H. needs to be stopped he has ruined
and disturbed alot of NGs...I would do anything that you would suggest to
help rid ourselves of this plague....WILL

The newsgroups is a free and unmoderated forum. There is no riding ourselves
of Jerry. He is best left unengaged, in my opinion.

Chad

Marcel
Please don't freak out on me I use outlook express, I have
heard others not be very complimentary about this but I am new to NGs at
only a couple of months of experiance.....Can you or Chad explain any
differences that would help me chose a different news reader or maybe help
me with this one....I get new posts and they are highlighted over ones that
I have read, is there something else I can do with OE to change to be a
little easier?....Will

I recommend a really good newsreader.

A number of us use XNews. It has really good filters.

Naah. No freakin' out here. I used to use OE. Learn to use the filters in
OE. They will make your life a whole lot easier. It has been a while
since I used OE at work, so I can't help you there. Maybe someone else
will jump in.

Other than that, just use common courtesy. In this ng, by unspoken
agreement, we bottom post. That is to say, when we are replying, we tend
to add our comments at the bottom after everyone elses post.

Welcome to the ng.

You can filter posts based on the sender. Say you want to filter out
posts by our resident loon. Click on his message, Go to Message --
Block Sender. You'll no longer see his posts. You can also filter out
other junk by creating rules (Tools -- Message Rules -- News). For
example, let's say you want to filter any subject tags containing
[Jerry]. You'd check 'Where the Subject line contains specific words',
select 'Delete it' then click on 'contains specific words' to add
[Jerry]. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, it has been a while since the regular post has been sent up, so
you should know a couple of things about the tags used in this group.

[Jerry] and [ninnyboy] are two tags that are used by people who want to
converse with or about our resident troll(s). It enables people who have no
desire to read messages from (or about) them. The [] are important to
prevent filtering of other people who are named Jerry.
