Default Dog walkers' etiquette

Seasoned dog walkers learn many ways of avoiding fights involving the
dogs they are walking. If you were asked by a novice walker, what
would you say were the most important rules in dog walkers' etiquette.
For example:

Don't allow adolescent dogs to rush up and plague grumpy old arthritic
dogs,or they may well have their noses bitten.

Seasoned dog walkers or not , many can't or won't keep their dogs undrer
control.
It's the owners' attitudes rather than the dogs that causes problems.

Well, yeah, Ali, 'tis very true. Dogs can catch you by surprise, for
example if they develop a brain tumour, but generally ... eg people
letting bitches-in-season off-leash that follow you with your entire
males on leash, the lady presenting her delectable posterior to your
male dogs' noses, etc ..
