i often complain about elliott's weird, long fur. on his head, chest,
back, and the top of his tail, it's smooth and long, like a GSD. on his
belly, under his tail, and the backs of his trousers, it's long and
wiry. his undercoat is cottony all over. cottony + wiry is an absolute
nightmare to groom and keep on top of.

Dylan is a long-haired GSD, so she has this in spades. We keep
her britches and belly trimmed to about an inch, too. Her
britches look so much better when they're cut short. Her tail
hair is also wiry, but I wouldn't dream of trimming it - it's
such a beautiful plume.
