Fixing Mesh Crates
Any way to repair the mesh door of my crate? Madigan learned to unzip it. So
I fastened the zipper so it couldn't be moved. She ripped it up trying. PetsMart Pet Trainer My Kids, My Students, My Life: http://hometown.aol.com/dfrntdrums/m...age/index.html Last updated June 27 at 10:00 a.m. |

I thought dogs loved the crates sooooo much they never would want to break
out, after all the crates are a "safe place". My dogs beds are a "safe place" but they don't have doors and the dogs love them, coz they can come and go as they please, just as they can go in & outside the house through the doggy door 24/7, my dogs are fine, no whining, no barking, no nuthin, I trust them coz I trained them, why on earth would I ever crate them? That doesn't mean they don't like their crates. The crate should be used because the dog has to be isolated for a period of time anyway, and needs a safe place. I only use the crate now at work. Usually Maddie was okay with being crated when I couldn't watch her. This time, I had just removed her from playing with other dogs. She knew I was still out there with the other dogs, figured out the zipper, and decided she wanted to be out where the fun was. I trust them coz I trained them, why on earth would I ever crate them? I trust Madigan at home now. I don't think it's appropriate to let her run around the store unsupervised, however, do you? That's great. However, not everyone has dogs that are housebroken, don't get in the trash, chew the furniture, chew the walls, uplift the linolium, or otherwise wreak havoc while their owners are away, and regardless of whether or not the dog has a "safe place" that they can retreat to, it does not make it easier for the dog to digest something that will result in a blockage. Furthermore, some people have dogs that cannot be trusted alone together, in which case a crate can be a safer alternative for the owners. Or have breeds that are more strongly prone to either "pack mentality" or "kill the little furry running thing" mentality, another instance in which it is easier to put the dog in the crate than find the cat, let alone put the cat somewhere it'd rather not be. ~Emily --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
