scenting help
Hey group,
My 10 month old Lab is showing remarkable skills in fetching and recovering. Really picking up commands quickly and well. I want to enhance her abilities as much as I can she really seems to enjoy it!! I was playing around the house tonight with a couple of her toys having her sit and stay while I go hide one of them. Then I would tell her to go get it and she would parade all over till she found it. I found this to be truley remarkable since I have as much knowledge in training her as she does...lol...Anyway is there a site or a recommended book I could read up on to train her correctly. Maybe some ideas of some toy ducks or "proper"commands just general know hows??? Thanks group!!! Tim |

Tim I guess Diane Blackman's site would be a pretty good start: http://www.dogplay.com I'd also think about joining a dog club but be careful as there are a lot of harsh trainers out there. Training should be fun for you and your dog so I'd recommend you avoid anywhere that uses choke chains and look for clicker classes. Diana |

Tim There's a nice book, "Fun Scentwork for Dogs" (or a very similar title) that has plenty of good games to challenge a dog with a good nose. Great stuff to keep a dog from driving you crazy when the weather is too bad to be outside :-) Lynn K. |
