Default Warning about Dog Trainer

Well, let's just hope that, say, Leah wasn't doing the teaching.

No one should use a choke, prong, buckled, e-collar, GL, Martingale,
etc. without first LEARNING how to use one properly and humanely.

Come on, some slack here. I didn't just make it up as I went along, I was
taught. I had no idea I was taught incorrectly. Especially considering it
WORKS.

I often say in my classes, "If it works, don't fix it." I'm fixing it, and
starting from yesterday. A new student told me how she had her prong fitted -
the same way I used to fit them - and I told her to bring it in next week so we
can fit it properly.

It works, but you and others convinced me there is more risk of injury. I was
already concerned that the collar was slipping down, which I knew wasn't
correct, and that's why I asked the question here in the first place.

I've repeated time and again that I do *not* have a flesh and blood human to
help me. I'm totally on my own out there. I have this ng. This is my
touch-stone. You guys are training me. It's not the best way, but it's made a
huge difference in the way I handle dogs in the past year.

I've not been blind to the "here we go again" posts. I'm really tired of
people assuming that I bring things up just to get a flame war started. I
bring them up, sometimes KNOWING that there will be flak - but because I need
to learn. Believe me, I do *not* enjoy getting slammed.

For those who have helped educate me, thank you very much. I only wish I had
somebody around who could have caught this a long time ago.
