Yup,and because a Chessie might be 1 amongst 100 Labs in the trials. But the reason there's so few Chessies is because Labs do so much better in today's field trials. And field trials are all about winning. And that also could be because Chessies LOVE to think for themselves, and you need to negotiate with them a bit, where a Lab is just a nice guy aiming always to please. Well, another way to say that is, Labs just *handle* better than Chessies. Primarily because they take to training, drilling, etc. better than most Chessies. Yup,I'm not easily handled either. Just like my Chessies. Chessies mark just as well as Labs (probably even better), but they don't handle as well as a Lab, especially on blind retrieves. But I'd be *very* happy to hunt with, and trial with, either breed. Both are anywhere, anything, anytime kinds of dogs. Yes but Brown Dogs definitely keep you feeling much more secure... Well, Paulette, that is known as an understatement. If a burglar breaks into a house at night with a Lab inside, the vast majority of Labs would bark, but then they'd probably point to where the jewelry was kept, and then bring the burglar his favorite ball to throw for him. On the other hand, if a burglar breaks into a house at night with a Chessie inside, the burglar might not only be missing a few limbs by morning, but it's damn near a 100% certainty that he wouldn't be having sex again for a long, long time. Haha Yup. I know that doing lots of boating,it is a very secure feeling ,at night, when your dogs are patrolling the deck , and you are anchored in a secluded area. You would never want to break into a home and find *this* guy waiting: http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrow...elected=472356 Chessies just need to give you a *look* and you know not to fool with them. I have a lot of *smiling pictures* too! Paulette~ |
