Insurance after a dog bite
My dog bit a neighborhood child about 9 months ago around christmas.
The bite was on the hand and needed a few stiches. When I reported it to the insurance they settle the claim without notifying me of the final outcome and now they are going to drop my homeowner's insurance policy in November when it runs out. I tried some other insurance companies but none will insure the house with the dog on the policy. I even found this agent that does insurance for zoos and circuses but he has a deductible of $5000. Aren't dogs supposed to get a second chance? How can I get insurance for the dog and not have to put him to sleep? Has anyone else had this problem? |

Try 1) going to an independent broker who works with a variety of insurance firms, and/or 2) a carrier who provides farm and agricultural coverage. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - I'm walking the dog, all day and all night |

Oh man that's a problem an unfortunate number of people face. http://www.sure-net.com/board/messages/628.html http://www.newsreview.com/issues/sac...06-20/news.asp Work with an insurance broker and you can probably insure around the dog - but if you want the dog covered then that $5,000 deductible is very reasonable. for the dog and not have to put him to sleep? Has anyone else had this problem? Most companies are not giving a second chance to dogs anymore. They are dropping homeowners after one bite. |
