Default Puppy problems

I would welcome any advice on training my cocker spaniel pup. He is 4months
old and I love him
dearly... BUT he is forever biting at my feet, when I tell him to stop,(in a
stern manner,I must add)
he just starts barking. He is driving me nuts with this. Help please, but no
physical punishment.
Many thanks in advance.

Rosie
