Back from moving and there goes my van too!
Hi All,
We finally got all moved in, now we only have to get settled in (easier said than done, apparently G). The dogs are really enjoying the acreage and even Emma, who is our resident couch cushion in a dog suit has taken to flying through the pasture at outdoor time. She's also not contained by the fencing we have here (Mini Dachsie) so she is relegated to the flexi, which irritated her at first, but she's dealing with the indignity in exchange for walks with all those wonderful smells On a less positive note, I went by the "old house" yesterday to pick up a last load of linens and clothes I'd left and on the way home I was rear ended by a huge dump/trash type truck (it was a business that cleans up construction, etc. debris) and I fear that my van was totaled Matt - Here's two thumbs up to my Windstar, because I and Lacy were largely uninjured despite the severe damage to the rear end. Lacy was thrown into the windshield (not good) but I'm actually glad she wasn't back where I usually crate the dogs (cleared for the move) as the cargo area was compromised (the only hard thing I had back there were some sizable steel Tonka trucks belonging to the boys - they were considerably bent) and the area was peppered with window shrapnel (I even have glass in the front floorboards) Not even sure how I would have gotten her out without the jaws of life, since there would have been no way to access the crates except from the rear....and that was completely crushed. On the up side, we went straight to the ER clinic who pronounced her unscathed and they gave her rimadyl (I know) for a few days to help with any subsequent bruising that might occur. Anyway, even if I'm not here much, I am back online.. just busy! Oh, and I have never been in an accident before, so aware that their insurance is supposed to provide me with a rental (my van was towed to a city lot until tomorrow) but any advice as to how best work that (or anything else in re to) would be welcome, either here or privately. Thanks!! Robin "Shaken, but not stirred" |

Glad you and Lacy were unscathed. This is one problem I have with crating the dogs in the back - rear enders are the most likely accident around here and I worry about having them right at the tailgate. |

Congrats on the move! We did that in April and it was a huge
accomplishment. I'm so glad that you and Lacy weren't hurt in the accident but sorry to hear that there even WAS an accident. -- Shelley & Rusty http://www.bump.us/rusty "Manadero" wrote in message ... Secondly, the Windstar has a good crash rating, which, according to lemonaidcars.com, is a good thing 'cause the brakes are so lousy. Further to that, I'm coming ever so close to owning a 2003 Windstar after replacing the transmission on my '96 last Thursday. New engine + new transmission = A Brand New Car!!1! I'm envious about your new house, to the point that I've started looking at on-line real estate prices for "property". Hah! That bought me back down to earth. -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. |
