another eevil pit bull story
I have a breed that everyone
thinks is friendly all the time. People walking by will just stick out their hands and pet my dog without asking. Mac was petted yesterday by Rep. Dick Gephardt (at an anti- California recall rally), who said, "I just love Golden Retrievers!" I _should have replied, "Me, too. Wish I had one.", but chickened out. Tell me, do you think the whole "breed" concept is pernicious? That's an example of people shoe-horning a dog into the nearest breed so that they can stereotype him. Years ago, when Mac panicked and ran from fireworks and I was following him, someone said, "Yes, we saw a pit bull run by here just a minute ago." What's the furtherest-off dog you've ever heard called a pit bull? http://community.webtv.net/k9apple/Howloweenies |
