How to teach my dog not to play "Chase" & play Fetch instead
I live with a 9YO rescued GSD. He didn't know how to fetch when he came to
live with us, but I was doing well using two frisbees (his favorite). I thought he was getting it and having fun to boot. Then I had to leave for business and my DH allowed him to play "keep away" with the frisbee instead of fetch. It's obviously far more rewarding to Griffon to play Chase rather than fetch. How do I get him interested in fetching again? I tried going back to the 2 Ball method, but now he's more interested in the ball (frisbee?) in mouth. Thanks! C.G. |

Just stand your ground and do not yell or chase him. Stand perfectly still
only coming to life when he's within arm's reach of you. If he comes close but bounces off a couple times, stay where you are but turn your back on him. Sit on the ground. He'll soon learn that you will not play his game and that his game is not rewarding. -- Kristen and Kali CD, CGC, TDIA, TT www.kristenandkali.com "CG" wrote in message ...
