Default Dog circles room while eating

This isn't a complaint, just curious as to why she does this. We
adopted a 3 year old spayed female (lab/Schipperke mix) from the
shelter last week and I'm watching her little quirks (like being
fascinated by the sounds of the steam heaters...she'll stand in front
of the radiator, transfixed). Last night I noticed this "ritual" while
she was eating:

She'd take a bite of food from her bowl, and circle the room while
chewing...almost like a figure-8 motion. She'd wind up back at her
bowl by the time she was done chewing, and repeat. She did this four
times. I've read about why dogs circle their bed before going to
sleep, but this is a new one to me. Anyone else seen it?
