I have a six year old Golden male. This spring he started getting discharge
in one eye and now he has it in both. I did take him to the vet and tried
eye drops but it didn't work. What could be the cause of this? I clean the
gunk out daily and don't see any foreign stuff in there, is it just
something akin to allergies or something I should bring him back to the vet
again for?

My only experience with this is with our Shih Tzu, Frankie, who gets
daily eyedrops for his dry eye and for pigmentation from an ulcer
surgery. These drops cause considerable discharge/goopiness, and I have
to clean his eyes daily..

What does your vet think is causing it, if not the drops? If you're not
getting what you think is a satisfactory response from him or her, maybe
you might consider a veterinary opthamologist.

Good luck!
