Rottweiler and terrier charging fence...help!!
My husband and I are at a loss as to what to do about a problem we
have in a home we have just purchased. Because we are on an odd shaped corner lot, the neighbours fenceline runs horizontally only about 8' from the back of our house. This means that every time DH or I enter the yard, exit the house from the side door or enter the garage, the neighbour's rottweiler and (pitbull?) terrier rush the fence, snarling and snapping. We cannot avoid them unless we use the front entrance only. It is fast becoming annoying, tiresome and I absolutely will not toleate being harrased in my own yard, minding my own business. It's simply a quality of life issue for us. I actually like dogs, especially large breeds, and had a large dog for 14 years growing up. The animals are not the problem, but their behavior is. We plan on building a 6' solid fence and installing an ultra-sonic device and dog repellent pellets along our side of the fence. What else can we do? We don't want to start WW3 with the neighbour but the dogs are out all the time and they are infringing on our peaceful enjoyment of the yard. When I start the garden in the spring time, how can I possibly enjoy it with two extremely aggressive animals running up and down the fence only a few feet from me!? Personally, I think having 'junk-yard' style, untrained, large-breed, outdoor dogs in a residential area is about as trashy as it gets. These animals aren't pleasant family pets. What are they guarding..? the owners 'stash' or something. Good grief. Caelan. |
