Default randy little so and so!

We have had a dog for 12 yrs and today we went to a local rescue centre and
bought another, a 6 month old pup, called Max, he's all black and looks like
a black retriever, he's already loo trained and is good in the house.
We saw him yesterday while out for a run, and had him reserved pending
compatibility with our other dog, they were both in the run loose and got on
fine; now they are both at home and my dog wants to have it off with the
pup, and keeps on mounting him, i have a book where i sit and when they
start the carry on i shout NO and bang the book, this stops the pup, but my
own dog just keeps going till i drag him off.
How can i stop him doing this, i don't want the pup picking this up, is
there a treatment (non surgical) that will curb it?
perhaps a tablet from the pet shop that i can give him?

yours in anticipation.
