Bunch a Sheep
Sometimes Tsuki can be a good little sheepdog as he was the other day. He
listened, he stopped, he watched his sheep. We had a whole bunch - and instead of being two flocks, they were one. No runners ... well one, once, but it was brought back appropriately. We penned them and unpenned them, and moved them from one pasture to another. It was a wonderful day. And I was taking pictures for promotinal items for the Ranch and got a nice one http://dogplay.com/Images_Herding/Ranch23Nov04.jpg. That reference to the two flocks? Well if you haven't herded it wouldn't be obvious. Sometimes when you put sheep together who either don't live together or have two "leaders" they tend to split and go in different directions ... which is what happened the last time we worked a large flock. Tsuki did eventually manage to keep them together long enough to move them from the pasture into the round pen, split off a group, then later regroup them and drive them out to graze for the evening. But it was more work than our recent exercises. THis last one was just fun. -- Diane Blackman http://dog-play.com/ http://dogplay.com/Shop/ |
