Poor Cheeto
Cheeto was one of the long-term rescue dogs at our store. He had been there at
least 6 months, and I didn't see a lot of hope of finding him a home. He'd bark constantly in his crate, didn't show a lot of affection, and wasn't particularly handsome - a sharpei/lab (or something close) mi*. A family with kids fell in love with him, and took him home. They signed up for a class, and I was surprised to see a totally different dog. Cheeto was very friendly and affectionate. He was also bright, biddable, and loved to please. The star pupil of the class. He learned everything immediately and loved to perform. I was so happy for him. But... it seems he has an issue with swings. His family noticed one time that when he saw a swing set, he went berserk. So their mistake was taking him to a park with a swing set a second time. The 3 year old girl was on a swing, and he flipped out and dragged her off by the foot. Her dad had a lot of trouble getting the foot out of his mouth. He didn't bite down hard - there were specks of blood and some bruising. But they felt they couldn't risk another episode like this, and returned him. My heart aches for him. Anybody without a swing set want to adopt a very lovely young dog? :} PetsMart Pet Trainer My Kids, My Students, My Life: http://hometown.aol.com/dfrntdrums/m...age/index.html Last updated June 27 at 10:00 a.m. |
