Default we had a visitor this morning...

i looked out the window this morning and saw a very bold coyote approaching
the house. probably looking for the mice that are holed up in our crawl
space, trying to keep warm.
anyway, the pups noticed her too, and they were NOT pleased. they both
jumped at the window, barking, growling, whining to get out. Lola wanted
out so bad she was shaking.
i think they wanted coyote for breakfast.

our visitor startled at the commotion and headed for the brush on the
perimeter of the yard. she marked a couple of places, looked back at the
house, and took off.

the dogs didn't stop whining for half an hour. and i don't think they
wanted to play.

i took Manu out after a bit, on the prong collar and a very strong leash,
and let him mark over her spots. this seemed to satisfy him, and he readily
came back inside to warm up.

i'm glad the dogs were inside when our visitor came by. i hate to think of
the mess that could have been.

she was back again tonight, heading to the same part of the house. it seems
really unusual that she would come back, after seeing the dogs this morning.
it's really cold outside, so maybe she's looking for shelter. i wish i
could ask her.
