Dog Beach
We went down to Florida last weekend to get our new dog and stayed in
Sarasota for a couple of days after we got her. Both days we went to a local dog beach for a couple of hours. Really a fun place. It was about 300 yards of beachfront. Sunday was very crowded but all the dogs got along great and had a ball running and swimming. I felt bad because we couldn't let Bessie off leash like all the other dogs. She didn't know us well enough and we didn't trust her to come back. We took her out in the water a bit, but she didn't really seem to enjoy it so that didn't last long. Many of the dogs loved chasing balls out into the surf though and would have done it all day if their owner's arms had held up. It was a lot of fun to see all the different breeds, especially after hearing about them here. All the owners enjoyed telling us about their dogs so we learned a lot. If you're ever near one, it's worth the time to go. Paul |
