Default Mullet Update

Mullet is doing much better, still not 100%, but he started eating today.
Our friend's family arrived yesterday afternoon and will be leaving Tuesday,
with Mullet in tow. They do not plan to rehome him, ever, as it was
something we were concerned about. Several people have stepped in to say
that if our friend's family didn't want him, they'd give him a permanent
home. I feel badly for Mullet though because he's only just started eating
food again (he'd take treats & small portions of human food though) which
indicates his anxiety level is decreasing. He's going to be moving in a few
days and while I believe he'll recognize his new owners and remember their
house, it'll be just one more adjustment for him. I am very happy though
that the family wants him.

The alleged murderer was caught and gave a full confession. At least the
question of "why" has been answerd. The detail of events are so much more
tragic than anyone suspected though. DH is doing better as well. He
started eating last night and is sleeping with the aid of prescription
medication. I hope everyone had a safe, uneventful, happy Thanksgiving.

Its sort of become clear to me that dogs know our families from the smell.
I remember baby jasper was terrified of new humans, but when my brother came
home from israel to visit, the dog took to him instantly. Anyone else took
hours, but my brother he knew already.

Hopefully the family smell of your friend will make Mullet comfortable with
his family. Bravo to them for seeing that their family member would have
wanted them to care for his precious friend Mullet.

Thats very sad. I am glad the man was caught.

I am so glad the murderer was caught and confessed. Although nothing
can bring him back, at least his family and other loved ones will have
some closure. Why did he do it?

I am also very glad that your DH is able to sleep and eat some. It
must have been horrible for him. It will take some time to even begin
to settle down for him, so I hope that he has more than just sleeping
medication available to him should he feel he needs help. Last
weekend was a weekend of death for kids in the schools where I
counsel. An uncle's suicide, a father's heart attack and the end of a
mother's four year fight with cancer. The two boys who lost fathers
earlier in the year are doing much better and it reminds me how they
were in that shock stage to begin with as well. It is really
wonderful that there are good therapists and good medications as well
as good family and friends when the really hard stuff hits. My
thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is missing your husband's
friend this holiday season, including Mullet.
