I've realized that I do some things automatically, without thinking about it,
after working with dogs. One of them may lead me to end up in a nuthouse. :}

If there is a sudden loud sound, or something else startling, I automatically
laugh and say "Oh, silly silly!" in a high-pitched, cheerful voice.

When there are dogs around, it makes sense. When there aren't... well... :}

Do you find yourself doing anything that other people would consider weird,
since you're used to having dogs around?

I *always* do two things automatically.
One is when I put something somewhere that might be slightly shaky,
I hold my flat palm out and say, "Stay".
The other is *always* double check gate-latchings, no matter where
I am.

I always close the toilet lid. Some people think this is only polite, but
I've been in many houses where I find it up. It's down when I'm done.

A few times I've found myself saying "Good Boy!" when I meant to say "thank
you."

Occasionally I point the remote at the barking dog and holler out "Mute!"

I so often have the dogs in the car with me that I will automatically
start to talk to them then realize, oops, they're not in their crates at
all!
