Default Funny Sonny

I have so far told a bit of Sonny's good side, a bit of his bad side so it
must be about time that you get to meet his funny side.

Sonny can be very funny and he does crack me up often. Lately he has put
a smile on my face when I cook dinner. He will sit right behind me, all big
eyed, a smile from ear to ear and his tail going non stop, resting his big
head against my butt so that I can't help but notice that he is HUNGRY. If
she could Ezra would role her eyes at him. She knows that begging won't
help, if they get something, they get it, if they don't they don't and that
is it.

Other people find his reaction to the "come" command funny, I am not
sure what to think. "Come" means according to Sonny: First you look back at
the crazy lady to make sure that it really is you that she calling, then you
run at her full speed(which isn't that fast I just don't have the heart to
tell him), just before running into her, you turn sideways and slam your
whole body into her legs followed by slamming your big head into her stomach
nearly knocking her off her feet!

general update:

He has stopped growling when I put the leash on and take it off him. he is
so good on the lead and on walks. He did go through a period of suddenly
turning around growling and jumping up snapping at my arms. That stopped
after 2 days as he found out I wasn't game for that.
He hasn't tried to bite me for what seems a long time now, but has
started to actually like me ! When on walks he will come up and tuck his big
head under my arm for a bit of attention. Off the lead he will run a bit
ahead but always looking back to make sure that I am still there. He doesn't
wander off but sticks close and comes when I call him. He doesn't care for
games and fetch if I throw a ball he will trot over, look down at it, look
back at me and go " yes I see the thing and .....?" He does however takes
great pleasure in chasing Ezra when she fetches..... I do have to keep an
eye on him, as he will sometimes go a bit overboard and try to bite her
butt, and that doesn't go down well with her. He does listen though and
stops if I tell him to cut it out.
He has food aggression, but it is getting better. He no longer has a
problem with me being there when he eats his dog kibble, left overs from
dinner, bones, and yummy treats still makes him growl, but we are working on
it, as I make sure to pet him a bit when he has something to show him, that
no I am not going to take his food, and it can be nice to have me around
when he has food. His growling has become less loud and aggressive so it
seems to work, last night he even wagged his tail and didn't growl !
We haven't had the collar of him yet as he would bite if we as much as
touch it. Now I can touch it, hold on to it and move it around.... have
spent a lot of time rubbing his ears and neck which he enjoys, while
touching his collar, next step will be to try and open and close it without
getting a close up of his teeth.
He seems generally happy and content, loves attention and will tug his
big head against me any chance he gets.
Ezra and Sonny... well they are not friends.... they do have their
arguments and I do have to keep an eye on them as they will fight, so far
nothing major no blood yet. Their arguments come and go. One minute they
can sleep side by side... the next one of them has a fit and the other one
reacts to it. It seems to be a jealousy problem, thankfully they will stop
when I step in and tell them to stop.
Sonny is getting better and better. He is a nice dog and I have grown to
like and love him : )

Lone
