Default Traveling with Zelda

I'm new here, and I haven't seen any posts on the matter, but I'm sure you've
already touched on it at some time. There are so many posts, I'm reluctant to
go through them all looking for advice on this. Thus, this post!

This summer I'm going to Colorado for a family reunion. The cabin we're
staying in accepts pets and so I'm taking my wee chihuahua, Zelda. I'm flying
there and I've never traveled with her before.

I've been researching carriers (Sherpa, etc.) that fit under the airline seat.
The airlines do NOT recommend sedating dogs for flights, so I'm not going to.
She's kind of alpha, but she submits to me almost always, but she's also a
lapdog. I'm concerned she might not like being on me during the trip.
Fortunately, it's only from KC to Denver.

Anyway, does anyone have any advice on traveling with dogs?

Thanks!
