Default Frankie IMT Part IV--Positive Lab Results

Just a quick update for those interested:

Blood work back from Saturday's sample show Frankie's platelets at the bottom
end of the normal range for his size and breed: 166 thousand. The last two
tests that we had to send across country--ANA (anti-nuculear antibody) and
Rhumatoid factor--were both negative.

That means that at this point we have a case of idiopathic IMT; more than
half of cases of IMT seem to be idiopathic. The other major possibility is
neoplasia/cancer.

Frankie is responding well to treatment (as we can see from his normal
platelets! yay!) and will remain on current doses of steroids and immuno-
suppresants until he gets his next full blood work Saturday. After that we'll
probably do an abdominal ultrasound and perhaps investigate his heart murmur
further, maybe with a chest echo. Baring problems there, we'll begin to taper
off the steroids, and begin at that time to address the bladder stones.

We're happy at this point for equilibrium. More when there is development.
Chad

I realize that that wasn't the best subject line. I mean that the lab results
are good news, not that he had a positive result of one of the tests. Sorry
for the confusion.

That's good news. Time for a few days of breathing normally again!

No worries, Chad.

I saw the header and thought: Good Lord, they sent poor Frankie into
hospital, and they got back a happy Labrador Retrever!
