Default schnauzer vomits yellowish liquid for few days

Good morning,

We have a 7 year old miniature schnauzer that we take great care of
and he has been in excellent health up to a few days ago. However, for
the past 5 days our dog has been vomiting yellowish, watery liquid
(nothing solid) on daily basis. He hasn’t touched food in 5
days, (drinks water though). He is very lethargic and sluggish,
doesn’t want to play, he is not the same dog. We took him to the
vet. Our dog had the blood tests done and they all came out ok. No
liver disease, no pancreatitis. Cholesterol levels were ok too. Today
is the 5th day this started happening and he still vomits yellowish
watery liquid, he still eats nothing or very little. This seems very
strange that the blood tests would come out ok but the dog is still
ill. Vet suggested doing an x-ray.

We are very worried. Does anybody know what could have caused this?

I don't know what's caused this, but have you tried giving your dog very
bland food like oatmeal or white rice (made with chicken broth), or a
little chicken? I'd try to get the dog interested in many little (bland)
"snacks" to try to keep some food in its stomach.

Sometimes blood tests aren't very good diagnostics. I'd probably want to
get some x-rays done. Five days is a long time and I know you must be
terribly worried. I'd have a long talk with my vet about other causes
and ask what the next diagnostic steps should be.

X-rays and maybe an ultrasound might be in order. Definitely ask for more
testing and maybe a referral to another clinic with board certified
specialists.

I recently went thru something similar with my min poodle. He was
vomiting for 4 days. It started out not that bad and he was holding
some food down. Then it got worse. The day i took him to the vet he
was blotchy red all over. The vet thinks he had an allergic reaction
to something the groomers had used on him a few days earlier.

He gave him a shot of something to calm his stomach, then defatted
chicken broth the first day and i added some rice, and then ground up
chicken with it. He was really feeling better so on the third day i
put some chicken broth on his dog food. He probably thought he was in
heaven.. he has been on wellness fish and sweet potato, and only
fruit/veggie treats.

The shot did wonders for him.. not sure if it was tagamet or reglan
