Default OT Geek Guy Present

Okay, I'm looking for some help either from one of the geek guys or someone
who knows and loves one. Daughter has a problem thinking of a present for
her geek boyfriend. (She's a Chem PhD, he's a Physics PhD almost).

Because of her finances (and his to respond) she would like to keep it about
$50. She'd like it to be a nice present but it doesn't have to be "the
greatest present EVER".

Best thought she's had so far is a MP3 player - but is it possible to get a
halfway decent one in her price range? She isn't totally sure that he
hasn't had one but has seen no evidence of its current existence.

Other guys in her lab have suggested clothes. They said it's kind of a
double present - not only does he get a new shirt or whatever but he then
doesn't have to go shopping for one himself.

DVDs and CDs would work but he hasn't indicated anything specific and she
doesn't know for sure what he has already. If she could find a CD that he
really wants and pair it with a shirt/sweater, then she'd be happy.

Anything with a computer chip is a good start, of course. Just on general
principle.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

~~Judy
