Default Scary vacuum cleaners

My dog is sometimes really odd. She seems to suddenly decide that a normal
household object is an "enemy" and will raise her hackles and *bark* at it.
"Enemies" of this nature in the past have included a particularly scary
flower pot, a very very scary sandwich box and even the sofa.

But this morning, we came downstairs at 6am, in the pitch dark. Holly walks
a step into the living room and starts barking like I've never heard her
bark before - volley after volley of howls. I was *convinced* there must be
a burglar there, I was really really worried!!!! So I walked in really
quietly and flipped the light switch on and quickly looked round the room.
No burglar. Thank goodness. What was Holly scared of? A hand held vacuum
cleaner that's on the floor every day. This thing is about a foot long and a
few inches high and looks just like a tube with a box on the end. Not worth
howls and hackles, I would have thought .....

sigh
