Default doggies mad at me

My husband, son and I went out for the afternoon and early evening. We left our
2 dogs (beagle and Pom) home with father and bro in law. They were fed, walked
and pampered as usual. We got home around 8 PM. Our beagle was happy to see us
and a little clingy - no big deal. My Pom was really in a tiff though. She
jumped up on the bed and barked her little head off at me. She had been let out
an hour before we got home and hubby let them out again as soon as we got home.
5 minutes after she got in the second time - she went back down stairs and
pooped in the middle of father in laws den. Boy was he peeved! No one saw it
happen and we weren't told until a while after it happened, so we didn't do
anything.

What should we have done?

-sunny
