Pup Wakes/Whines Early AM
We have a Westie puppy who is in a cage in our living room. He wakes up
about 4:30 AM and starts to whine and bark. I then have to get up, take him out of the cage and then the dog is fine. The trouble is that I then cannot get back to sleep. I get the impression our puppy just wants company, because if I am up or lying down on the sofa in our living room, the puppy quiets down. Any ideas on how to correct this behavior so that I can sleep in the morning? Thanks. Pedro -- To contact me directly by email, please remove the words "NO" and "SPAM" from the reply address above. |

Dogs are not solitary animals, they are pack animals and as such need to sleep and play and live in general with others. If you move the crate to your bedroom, it may help. |

Any ideas on how to correct this behavior so that I can sleep in the morning? Have you tried an Electric Shock Collar? You can keep the remote on your nightstand and just reach over and push the button when he starts to yip in the morning... like hitting the snooze button on your alarm. Thanks. Any old time, pal. I may not be an expert on dogs, but I've known a few bad ones. Pain is an effective teaching device. Good luck. Charlie |
