Default 2 points about bad advice

This is so true, and is excellent advice. When we adopted our first
dog (as a couple), a rescue Dalmatian, the contract required obedience
training with a specific instructor. I would never take my dog to
this instructor now, because his methods are based on physical
punishment. However, one of the first things he told us was to stop
allowing the dog to jump on us, and if we wanted her to be permitted
to jump on us at times, we should put it on cue. We did so. This
advice was not only a good idea, it made both of us see the limitless
possibilities of putting behaviors on cue. We're not JQP owners, but
I find it pretty hard to believe that not a single JQP owner with a
dog that jumps on people would try putting the behavior on cue. Leah
has used more time, energy and bandwidth rationalizing why it wouldn't
work to suggest that to her students than it would take to simply due
it. Which, unfortunately, is typical.
