Default Advice on westie bark & wee! :)

hi all,

I wonder if anyone has any advice on helping a four year old westie (or
their thirtysomething owners? ) with some behavioural hints and tips?

chloe has developed a habit of not being able to go through the night
without going for a wee. even if she's let out late at night (last night,
she went out at 11:30pm, up this morning at 6:30am) there's still a present
on the tile floor in the morning. she's also taken a liking to my doormat
in the lounge, which I think looks like grass and therefore must be okay to
wee on in her mind.

i'm led to believe she might have a weak bladder as she had to be spayed
very young (her brother got a bit fruity too early) and the vet said that
might not help her bladder control.

if it's that and it's not her fault, does anyone have any suggestions?

as a former cat owner (yes, boo, hiss, I know in a dog group!), I was
considering just getting a litter tray so that at least it can be easily
cleaned up if it's not her fault, but don't want to encourage either of the
two of them to start going in the house.

as if that wasn't enough, when we're out for walks, she's a nightmare
barker. soon as she sees another dog, kids, people on bikes, she's off like
a true terrier barking for England without any thought to the world around
her or coming back.

is she just overexcitable do you think or are there any suggestions for
sorting either or both?

many thanks in advance

Jason
